FT Domestic Violence Advocate

Profile

Full-time position to work with adult survivors of domestic violence and their children in a 24-7 shelter in Sussex County. Sanctuary Model is utilized. Must be empathetic, conscientious, organized, and invested in learning best practices with survivors of domestic violence. Associate's degree in Human Services (Bachelor's degree preferred) or related field and equivalent experience/ training required. Prefer experience in trauma-informed setting.
General responsibilities include providing support to survivors and their children in the shelter and in the community, safety planning, providing resources and information regarding domestic violence, supporting hotline callers, collaborating with team and partners, transporting survivors and their children to appointments, data collection, assisting survivors in filing for protection, accompaniment to hearings, translation and assisting survivors with their goals. Must be able to work occasional evenings. Must pass required background checks and have a good driving record.
