Community Educator

The Community Educator position is a non-exempt position paying $28-30 per hour. The position is up to 21 hours per week where hours can vary. The office is located in Central Islip, NY. The role reports to Supervisor.
Primary Purpose of Job:
The Community Educator is responsible for providing human trafficking prevention and awareness trainings to professionals, caregivers and community members throughout the Suffolk County Long Island region. The Community Educator will facilitate and develop prevention and awareness materials to increase awareness about human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Learn and fully comprehend Safe Harbour training materials to ensure delivery of effective presentations to target audiences in in-person and virtual settings.
Develop and facilitate trauma-informed prevention education surrounding topics such as Trafficking Prevention, The Grooming Process, Internet Safety, etc, to increase human trafficking awareness and prevention in Suffolk County.
Conduct outreach to social services providers, schools and other relevant organizations in Suffolk County to provide trainings and outreach materials.
Travel to locations around Suffolk County to provide in person trainings.
Maintain accurate database of professional contacts, presentation attendance, and presentation and outreach provided.
Complete data collection tool after each training conducted and submit to Supervisor.
Participate in team meetings, case conferences, agency presentations and trainings and related events
Prepare monthly and quarterly statistical and annual reports as required by funding source.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Associates degree in a related field required, Bachelors preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) preferred.
Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as Google drive applications, Microsoft Office applications, calendar and email.
Knowledge of Child Abuse, Child Sexual Abuse and reporting requirements preferred.
Excellent presentation skills, experience providing presentations a plus.
Evening and weekend end flexibility required.
Must have NYS drivers license and access to an automobile.
