Employment opportunities are possible for attorney jobs. There are some things that you can do to help you become a public interest lawyer. The first thing you should do is gain some experience in public interest. The employers that are hiring for these attorney jobs are looking for candidates that want to dedicate the rest of their careers to the area of public interest. If you are not that serious about it but would like to have the employment opportunities then you do need to give the impression of some genuine interest in public interest.

You can do this by attending a law school clinic or signing up for a public interest group at the school that you attend. You can also show some interest by volunteering your time at an organization that focuses on public interest. This may be the best solution for someone that is already out of school.

You should begin your search for such attorney jobs by searching for public interest positions. Many law schools have listings of open positions for you to reference. You can also find information about open positions at online sites that gear themselves towards positions in the field of public interest. Check the phone book or online for organizations in your area for Legal Aid or Nonprofit positions. Once you have located their names, check out their websites or make phone calls to see if they are doing any hiring.

The public interest organizations typically do not know in advance that a position is open. When one comes open the must immediately fill it and find that they do not have the time to post an ad for the position. Employment opportunities can only be found, in some instances, if you make the initiative to contact the potential employers yourself.

Be sure that any resume that you send out has a cover letter attached. Cover letters and resumes that are submitted for attorney jobs must be made specific to the company that you are applying for. The cover letter will allow the prospective employer to see the human side of you prior to meeting you in person for the first interview. They will see that you are applying for the right reasons, not just so you can bring in some money.

It is a very good idea that, when looking for employment opportunities for attorney jobs, you send your resume in to be considered via the postal system or fax. Emailing your resume may lead to your information being set aside and forgotten about as many email boxes are filled with requests and other urgent items. The physical paper copy will be on the desk and available for review at any time and will stay in front of them until they deal with it. They may find themselves rereading over your cover letter as they sit on hold or wait for an email response. It can only be beneficial to you. By following up promptly on your submission you will not only be sending the message that you really want this position but you will also be showing them that you are precise and will be on top of the game. This can lead to a long lasting position at the job of your dreams.
