There are not many educational qualifications required to become a director of a licensed care facility. There are no high grades required to open an agency of your own. The bare requirements are that you need to have a masters' degree in any field. This field need not be necessarily related to social services or health care although if you have some knowledge in social services or health, it will be helpful. Apart from that, you should have done a course in accounting and finance.
The skills required to run a care job agency are huge. First you must have a passion and love of serving society. This is what will help you go on for a long time as this field is not as lucrative as some of the other fields.
Apart from this, you should be good with numbers. You should be equipped with handling the accounts of your company. If the accounts of the company are not clear and up to the mark, it won't take a long time for your company to go haywire.
Next, you should have human resources skills. Handling a big company with a big staff can be a tough job. You should be able to take care of the needs of your staff members. If your staff members are not happy with you, they will not serve society properly and the whole purpose of running a public interest company is defeated.
Knowing a few local languages can be helpful since it gives you a chance to directly interact with the local public and understand their needs and requirements. Having at least a basic knowledge of computers is required.
There are many training programs held by health care institutions which are usually for a period of one year of which you can take advantage of. But as such there is no specific training help for the director of licensed care job.
Before opening your own company, you should have a minimum of 5 years of work experience working with any public interest company.
Employment opportunities are pretty decent. If you have enough funds, you can start your own care job agency. Another option is to get recruited by an organization which is already into this field. But for that you will require good experience and a good track record to show that you are good for this job.
As far as salary is concerned, it is highly subjective. It depends on what organization you are working for. Some international organizations offer excellent reimbursements. Also, if you have your own company that is active, you can still earn good amount.
As far as monetary benefits are concerned, this field may not be as luring as some other vocations. But the satisfaction that you get by serving the society you are living in is worth far more than materialistic benefits.
